Tampa Bay Art Scene to Face a Season of Change

The Florida art scene is constantly expanding and adapting to supporting it’s thriving community. This summer has been an especially eventful transitional period for many Tampa Bay’s arts institutions.


Dali Alive Immersive Experience

Following the success of Van Gogh Alive, St. Pete’s Dali Museum will be unveiling a new immersive experience focused on it’s namesake. The multiscensory art experience will be held in the museum’s Avant Garden and is set to open this summer. In preparation, The Dali has built a geodosic dome where the project will be held. New Clearwater Venue

Coachman Park’s The Sound, Clearwater’s newest events venue opened just last month as part of the Downtown Clearwater Waterfront Redevelopment Project. The outdoor music space is set to be a fan-favorite and it’s upcoming concert lineup, including Ringo Starr, continues to fuel excitement. With room to comfortably seat 9000, it’s expected to attract quite the crowd.


Powerstories Theatre to Find a New Home

After 22 years, Powerstories Theatre has been forced to relocate as developers received the go-ahead to rezone the property they were located on. Although the theatre company fought hard to save it’s space, Powerstories has ended its 2023 programming following this month’s Voices of Women Theatre Festival. Don’t worry just yet, Powerstories will continue it’s season in 2024 with a pop-up productions throughout Tampa as they search for a new space.


Creative Pinellas Searches for CEO

In the seven years Barbara St. Claire has acted as CEO for local non-profit arts agency Creative Pinellas, she has made a name in the arts community funding and supporting artists and art organizations. In April, St. Claire announced her retirement. She plans to stay with Creative Pinellas as consultant to help with the transition once she steps down at the end of this year, but is hoping to use this time to pursue creative endeavors. Creative Pinellas’ Board of Directors has established a committee who has started to search for her replacement this summer.
